  • Unit 1: Linear evolution equations, Chapter 7, (section 7.1);
  • Unit 2: Calculus of variation, Chapter 8, (sections 8.1-8.4);
  • Unit 3: Nonvariational techniques, Chapter 9, (sections 9.1, 9.2, and 9.6).

  • Test: There will be three 100-point tests tentatively scheduled for Jan. 31 (F), Feb. 28 (F), and April 4 (F).

  • Final: There will be an 100-point final exam. tentatively scheduled for April 23.

  • Homework: Homework will be assigned regularly.

  • Grading: The total points are 400.
