This is a picture of Dr. Theral O. Moore at the University of Missouri in 1955 having just received his PhD in mathematics. He began teaching at the University of Florida in the fall of 1955. He retired on December 31, 2007 after 52 + years of teaching mathematics at the University of Florida. He enjoyed all 52+ years of this teaching experience! He loves to talk mathematics and he is always happy to see students doing well!
Although Theral O. Moore is offically retired with the status of Associate Professor Emeritus, he is teaching in retirement. On December 2012, he had completed 57 and a half years of teaching at the University of Florida. He came to the university in 1955.
As a young professor here at the University of Florida, Dr. Theral Moore taught topology. He wrote a book Elementary General Topology in 1964 which was published by Prentice Hall.
He also co-authored a textbook Complex Analysis with Prof. Edwin Hadlock, his father-in-law. This book was published in 1991 by World Scientific a little over three years after the death of Prof. Hadlock in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 86.
Dr. Moore is a 1949 graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Upon graduation he taught a year in the public high school of Warren, Arkansas before pursuing his masters degree in mathematics at the University of Arkansas and then his doctorate in mathematics at the University of Missouri in Columbia under Dr. Leonard Blumenthal.
At the University of Missouri he held a graduate teaching assistantship and was awarded a Gregory Scholarship.
