(pdf) which gives pointers on what I consider to be good mathematical writing. Further information is at our class-archive URL (I email this private URL directly to students).

In all of my courses, attendance is absolutely required (excepting illness and religious holidays). In the unfortunate event that you miss a class, you are responsible to get all Notes / Announcements / TheWholeNineYards from a classmate, or several. All my classes have a substantial class-participation grade.

Class-D (pdf)

[One earns genuine coin-of-the-realm CP points (CP = "class participation") by posting a solution or improving a solution.]

Centroids and trapezoids appeared on the frabjous Class-C (pdf) to the delight of the geometrically-inclined.

The Friendly version of Home-C (pdf) [simplified] gave a whirlwind tour of Spirals. (Or should I say, a whirl wrap tour?) In class we discussed some Home-C & Class-C Solns.

Here is a Partial fraction decomposition example with !N*u*m*b*e*r*s! for Sister Sarah.

The graphic Home-B (pdf) preceded the thought-provoking Class-B (pdf). One of the problems was Evacuating a hemispherical tank (pdf) filled with uniform-density fluid, in a uniform gravitational field.

Week-1: Shell-method and washer-method to compute Vol(SoR).

The test of prereq knowledge (pdf) (Mon., 11Jan.) was foreshadowed by a sample test (pdf). It asked about Calc 1 and High-school knowledge, and the Math-Greek alphabet (pdf).

Week-0: Intro to the two Theorems of Pappus on finding volume and surface-area of a SoR (Solid of Revolution).

Optional End-of-semester Individual project

For students who choose to do it, the Optional Project (pdf) is due, slid u n d e r room 402 Little Hall my office door (Little Hall 402, Northeast corner) , by 4PM on Friday, 23April2010.

The final project must be carefully typed, but diagrams may be hand-drawn.

At all times have a paper copy you can hand-in; I do NOT accept electronic versions. Print out a copy each day, so that you always have the latest version to hand-in; this, in case your printer or computer fails. (You are too old for My dog ate my homework.)
