The Mathematics Department of
the University of Florida will hold a conference
on Representations of Groups and Combinatorics.
The conference will aim at new reasearchers and graduate students
as well as established experts and a special feature will
be expository lecture sequences by our principal speakers
M. Broué, R. Guralnick, A. Kleshchev and A. Turull on various
topics of representation theory and their combinatorial aspects,
such as the representation theory of symmetric groups,
block theory of finite reductive groups, combinatorial representation
theory of algebraic groups and applications of representation
theory. There will also be a number of more specialized
research talks by participants, with an emphasis on discussion
of open problems.
The goal is to stimulate research and its dissemination
at all levels by providing beginning and young researchers
with the opportunity to hear and meet those at the leading edge
of current research, as well as for experts in different
areas to exchange ideas.
We especially welcome participation by
students, recent PhDs and mathematicians from under-represented
groups such as women and minorities.
They will be given priority for support for travel and lodging.
If you are a graduate student and interested in attending,
please contact P. Tiep tiep@math.ufl.edu giving the names of university and your advisor.
We hope to invite about 20 graduate students from UF and other
universities and about 15 other participants to the conference.
Schedule
Here is a preliminary schedule (updated daily).
Abstracts of talks will be added to the schedule as we receive them.
All lectures will take place at the Mathematics Department in Little Hall.
Directions to Little Hall can be found at the bottom of the Travel page.
