Course description and requirements
Weekly Schedule
Some MATLAB resources:
- Dr. Garvan has a
tutorial that will help get you started.
- A useful reference is the MATLAB Primer by Kermit Sigmon,
available on
amazon.com and elsewhere. Highly recommended.
- If you're adventurous, check out Octave, an open source near-clone of
MATLAB. It is included in many Linux distributions. You can get source code
at the web site, as well as precompiled versions for a number of Linux
distributions, and Windows machines as well.
- Scilab is another open
source scientific software package with linear algebra capabilities.
If you wish to email me with questions about the readings or homework
(and you are always welcome to do this) please keep in mind the following:
- I don't always have the textbook with me, so if you ask me a question
like "I'm having trouble with problem 15 in section 2.3" there's not a
whole lot I can do. State the problem as precisely as you can, and describe
the difficulty you have with it.
- Please don't send attachments, or messages in HTML, since I'm not
always working in an environment where these are readable. Stick to
straight text.
