Grading

The discussion section (quizzes and homework) counts for 100 out of 400 points (25%!) of your grade. We will take 11 quizzes in class, collect homework six times (randomly) during the semester, and take 12 weekly online quizzes. Quiz 12 is the sum of your six collected homework assignments. Quiz 13 is the sum of your 12 weekly online quizzes. The lowest three of these quiz grades will be dropped.

In-class Quizzes: If a quiz is to be given during a particular discussion class, it will be based on the previous lectures. Each quiz is worth three points. Check the schedule to see which lectures will be covered on the quiz. Generally, quizzes will be given at the end of class, but the TA reserves the right to give them at any time during discussion. Partial credit is given on quizzes, depending on the nature of the problem. You must show all work. No calculators are permitted on quizzes.

Homework: If homework is to be collected during a particular discussion class, it will be on one particular section from any material covered previously (go to the lecture outline on Mrs. Tornwall's website for the problems). I will randomly pick some problems and grade those accordingly.

Online Quizzes: Online quizzes will be discussed in lecture.

Make-Up Policy:
In general, quizzes and homework can not be made up. The only exception to this is a legitimate, documented excuse, due to a university-sponsored event. See Jane Smith in order to discuss make-up work.
