FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS 2
MAA 7527
Instructor: Paul Robinson (414 Little Hall; paulr@ufl.edu)
Class: MWF 7; LIT 233
Office: W6,8; F3,4
This course will first cover the
fundamental theory of C* algebras and will then introduce von Neumann
algebras; in the time that remains, a study will be made of various
classes of compact operators (including the trace class and
Hilbert-Schmidt classes).
Grades will be assigned on the basis of performance in
regular homework assignments.
Text: None is required (but see references below).
