Beyond the core courses, you must select at least four math electives (12 credits), including two that complete one of the elective packages (if your catalog-year is 2004 or earlier). In addition to the Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics packages listed below, there are elective packages in Physics, Computer Science, and Statistics and Probability.

Pure Mathematics

Choose two courses from
  • MAA 4226 (Modern Analysis 1) only if MAA 4211-12 previously completed
  • MAA 4226 (Modern Analysis 2)
  • MAD 4203 (Combinatorics 1)
  • MAD 4204 (Combinatorics 2)
  • MAS 4107 (Linear Algebra 2)
  • MAS 4203 (Number Theory)
  • MAS 4302 (Abstract Algebra 2)
  • MAS 5311 (Introductory Algebra 1) only if MAS 4301 previously completed
  • MAS 5312 (Introductory Algebra 2)
  • MHF 4102 (Set Theory)
  • MHF 4203 (Foundations of Math)
  • MTG 4302 (Topology 1)
  • MTG 4303 (Topology 2)

Applied Mathematics

Choose two courses from:
  • MAA 4402 (Complex Variables)
  • MAD 4203 (Combinatorics 1)
  • MAD 4204 (Combinatorics 2)
  • MAD 4401 (Numerical Analysis)
  • MAP 4305 (Diff. Eq. 2)
  • MAP 4341 (Partial Diff. Eq.)
  • MAP 4403 (Math Methods for Eng.) (MAP 4403 no longer offered)
  • MAP 4413 (Fourier Analysis)
