Beyond the core courses, you must select at least four electives (total 12 credits) from the set below if your catalog-year is 2005 or later (the electives list for catalog-year 2004 or earlier is somewhat different). For the Bachelor of Arts degree, at least one of these electives must be a course taken from the UF math department at the 4000-level or above. For the Bachelor of Science degree, at least three of these electives must be courses taken from the UF math department at the 4000-level or above.

Below is the complete list of courses at the 4000-level and below that may be used towards the elective component of the math-major requirements. If a course numbered 4999 or below does not appear on this list (for example, MAT 4905 Individual Work), it does not count as a math-major elective. Most 5000-, 6000-, and 7000- level courses offered by the Mathematics Department (only!) also count as math-major electives. The exceptions are that MAT 6905 Individual Work never counts, and Special Topics classes (MAT 6932) count only if approved by the Undergraduate Coordinator.

Note that MAT 4930 (Special Topics in Mathematics) does not count as a math-major elective unless approved by the Undergraduate Coordinator. Special Topics classes offered by any department other than Mathematics never count towards math-major requirements.

Important: Requirements may change from year to year. The specific requirements for a given student are determined by the student's catalog-year. The requirements listed on the math department website for catalog-year 2005 or later are intended to be those in the those in the most recent Undergraduate Catalog, but if there is a difference the student should check the revision-date at the bottom of each math-department webpage visited.

In the list below, electives are organized by the departments offering them: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), and Physics.
