Financial Support
Important note:
As of the deadline of December 15, we have more applicants
than we will be able to support. So if you apply now, it is
highly unlikely we will be able to provide any support. However,
we will keep your application on file for the (unlikely) event
that we get more funds. As of January 28 we are totally
committed and are no longer accepting names for the waiting
list.
The conference NSF grant provides travel/lodging support for
20 graduate students at $500 each and $500 each for
20 post-PhD researchers (at any point in their careers) who
have no external funding.
To apply for this support you should send an email to
Lou Block
at block@math.ufl.edu
with the subject "Conference Support". The body of the
email should contain the following information You
are encouraged to copy and paste the text below into your email and add
your information after the headings.
NAME:
MAILING ADDRESS:
EMAIL ADDRESS:
AREA OF RESEARCH:
IF YOU ARE A GRADUATE STUDENT, PLEASE GIVE THE NAME
AND EMAIL ADDRESS OF THE FACULTY MEMBER WHO WILL
BE SENDING THE EMAIL SUPPORTING YOUR APPLICATION.
Notes
For full consideration, please apply before
December 15, 2008. We will
make funding decisions shortly thereafter and send
out notifications of support.
- For your area of research
please use the appropiate special session title, eg.
Continuum Theory, Dynamical Systems, etc. You may give
more than one area.
- Graduate students should arrange to have a faculty
member at their institution send a brief email of
support for their application to
Lou Block at block@math.ufl.edu.
This email just needs to say that you are currently a graduate
student in Mathematics with serious interest in the content
of the conference.
- The funding for post-PhD researchers is available
to anyone at any stage in their careers, but it is restricted
to people who have no external sources of funding. External
here means other than your college or university. By applying
you are certifying that you are in this category.
- We hope to be able to support all applicants, but if
we need to make decisions the criteria will be date of
application and diversity of geographic and mathematical
areas.
