Title: A New Method of Moving Asymptotes with Trust Region Technique for General Nonlinear Programming Ni Qin Dept. of Mathematics Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Nanjing 210016 P.R. China Abstract: The method of moving asymptotes is known to work well for certain problems arising in structural optimization. A new method of moving asymptotes with trust region technique is proposed for solving general nonlinear programming problem. In this method, a convex subproblem is solved by a dual method at each iterate and the choice of asymptotes is controlled by the trust region radius. The global convergence of the algorithm is proved under the mild condition.
