Title: Semismooth Newton Methods for Shape-Preserving Interpolation, Option Price and Semi-Infinite Programs Liqun Qi Department of Applied Mathematics The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong Email: maqilq@polyu.edu.hk Abstract: Since 2001, there is a development of semismooth Newton methods for solving shape-preserving interpolation, option price and semi-infinite programs. This makes the territory of the semismooth Newton method beyond Nonlinear Complementarity (NCP) and Variational Inequality (VI) problems. Instead of NCP functions, now the analysis of semismoothness involves integral functions. It also stimulates the discussion on almost smooth functions.
