Title: Thoughts on Writing Mathematics
กก
Abstract:
The purpose of this talk is to discuss the
communication of
mathematical ideas through the written medium. I will discuss five
aspects of written communication:
1. Engage your audience.
2. Organize your material.
3. Conceptualize your ideas.
4. Be precise and concise.
5. Simplify. Simplify. Simplify.
While most remarks will be suitable for students in any
area, the primary focus will be for those in applied mathematics.
In particular, we will discuss the structure of a paper which involves data.
This talk will be at a level suitable for graduate students and upper-level
undergraduates.
The pizza and drinks will be provided after the talk.
