SIAM meeting report

In today's SIAM meeting we discussed a variety of upcoming workshops and
conferences that may be of interest. Some highlights:

1. IMSM workshop at the NC State University will be July 25 through August 2.
To apply, you will need one letter of recommendation, a copy of your transcript
and the application form; application deadline is April 15. Students will be
funded for travel to and from Raleigh as well as local expenses (food and

2. IMA workshop at the University of Minnesota will be August 1--10. To
apply,you will need to submit two letters of recommendation as well as the
application form; deadline is April 15. Local expenses will be covered, but students are
responsible for their own travel.

3. SIAM Southeast Atlantic Session at the College of Charleston (South
Carolina) is March 25 and 26. Adnan and Beyza are planning to attend, so it
may be possible to make carpooling arrangements. Details are available at

4. The SIAM annual meeting will be held in New Orleans on July 11--15 (July 12
is student day). As a student chapter, SIAM-Gators may select a student
representative (we will need to make a decision by April 1). If you are
interested, please contact Dr. Moskow <moskow@math.ufl.edu>; please include a
brief statement about your interest in the conference. If you would like to
