Many people have come up with (surprisingly) creative excuses for needing just a few more days; rather than allowing random exceptions, it seems more equitable to just announce a general extension of the deadline. So: ANTS III papers are due Monday, Jan. 19. The original call-for-papers is enclosed below. Joe Buhler jpb@reed.edu The Algorithmic Number Theory Symposia (ANTS) are held every two years and are devoted to theoretical or practical algorithmic questions related to number theory. The first conference was in Ithaca, New York, USA, in 1994, and the second was in Bordeaux, France, in 1996. ANTS III will be held this summer in Portland, Oregon, USA. Papers on all areas of algorithmic number theory are hereby solicited for this conference. We welcome papers in number theory, or number-theoretic aspects of related areas, e.g., Elementary number theory Algebraic number theory Analytic number theory Geometry of numbers Algebraic geometry Finite Fields Cryptography Computational complexity. Papers should include each author's name, affiliation, and email address; they should not exceed 12 pages in length (excluding bibliography and appendices). Authors should send 8 copies of their papers to: Prof. J. Buhler Reed College Portland, OR 97202 USA The proceedings of the first two conferences were published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science series (volumes 877 and 1122) and we anticipate that the proceedings of this conference will appear there also. Authors of accepted papers will be asked to produce camera-ready copy. DATES: Papers Due: January 12, 1998 Authors notified: March 2, 1998 Camera-ready version due: April 6, 1998 ANTS III: June 21-25, 1998 Program Committee: Eric Bach, Johannes Buchmann, Joe Buhler (chair), Henri Cohen, Neal Koblitz, Bjorn Poonen, Rene' Schoof Details on travel arrangements, etc. will appear with subsequent announcements of the conference and on the conference web page (URL: www.reed.edu/ants).
