matlabrc.mand, if it exists,
startup.m. On multiuser or networked systems,
matlabrc.mis reserved for use by the system manager. The file
matlbrc.minvokes the file
startup.mif it exists on MATLAB's search path.
You can create a startup file in your own MATLAB directory. The file can include physical constants, engineering conversion factors, or anything else you want predefined in your workspace.

matlabrc.mis actually invoked by MATLAB at startup. However,
matlabrc.mcontains the statements
startup.m. You can extend this process to create additional startup M-files, if required.
