Prerequisites
A scientific programming
language (C recommended).
Courses:
A thesis is required for this option. The total
number of required credit hours is 33, including
6 hours for MAT6971 (Research for Masters Thesis).
The student is required to take MAA5228-9 Analysis, MAS5311-2 Algebra,
and at least 12 more hours of mathematics
courses of 6000 level or above.

section for course abbreviations.)
Individual work in the form of
MAT6905, MAT6910,
MAE6940, will not count towards this 12 hours,
and at most 6 hours of MAP 6941 Internship in Applied
Mathematics will count towards this 12 hours.
Students must choose their courses in consultation
with the graduate coordinator and the supervisory
committee.

Supervisory Committee
Each student must form a supervisory committee
consisting of at least two mathematics faculty by the
end of the second semester of graduate study.
Thesis
Each student must prepare and present a thesis. This
should be acceptable in form and content to the
supervisory committee and the Graduate School, and
must contain some original research material.
Examinations
Each student must present and defend the thesis in
an oral exam which is administered by the supervisory
committee.
Teaching
One semester of college teaching is required.
Language
There is no language requirement.
