How to Apply

The university encourages electronic applications. However, if you encounter a difficulty with the online application process or are otherwise unable to apply electronically, you may also apply by mail.

International applicants may want to view the page addition information for international applicants.

A completed application consists of

An application form, preferable electronic;
Official transcripts of all University level work sent directly to the office of admissions;
For international students, official transcripts and degree certificates in both the original language and English translation. Thus, if you are an international student with both an BS and MS this will be eight documents;
Three letters of recommendation. These can be submitted electronically. They may also be sent directly to the department of mathematics at the address below either as a letter or using the forms (see below). At least two letters should come from instructors who can speak to your work in rigorous proof based mathematics courses;
Test scores, GRE, and if needed TOEFL, sent directly from ETS to the office of admissions.

In addition, please send directly to the mathematics copies of all transcripts and, if required, degree certificates - these need not be official and xerox or .pdf is fine.

The university strongly encourages you to fill out the actual application form online. Should you choose to do so, it will be helpful to have the following materials at hand to assist you with the application.

Copies of your transcripts from all colleges/universities you attended.
Dates you have taken or plan to take standardized tests such as the GRE and TOEFL.
If Florida residency is being claimed (for tuition purposes), you will need the voter registration, driver license and vehicle registration of the person claiming Florida residency. Non-U.S. citizens will need their resident alien numbers.
Be sure to use the navigation buttons on the electronic application forms. They insure your information is stored in the database.
