* Dennis Sullivan is one of the world's most eminent topologists. He has done fundamental work in algebraic and geometric topology, dynamical systems and string theory. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences (1983) and a winner of the Oswald Veblen Prize of the American Mathematical Society (1971). Since 1981, Dennis Sullivan has occupied the Albert Einstein Chair in Science at The City University of New York.
