RECEPTION IN HONOR Of PROFESSOR JOHN THOMPSON

During a reception at the Keene Faculty Center on April 4, 2001, in honor of 2000 National Medal of Science Winner John Thompson, Dean Sullivan announced the creation of the John G. Thompson Research Assistant Professorship. This will be a three year position with reduced teaching load during each academic year, plus a summer research stipend, open to recent PhDs in all areas of mathematics. Click HERE for more details.

The reception was a very enjoyable event, which opened with a Mozart piece by Professor Steve Saxon (Baritone) and Mrs. Brenda Saxon (Piano). The event was attended by mathematics department faculty and staff and their spouses, as well as many faculty from other departments. Distinguished Professor of Physics Pierre Ramond made some humorous anecdotal remarks.
