Professor Steve Saxon
has been elected as a
Foreign Correspondent of the Royal Spanish
Academy of Sciences.
Established in 1847, this academy is the Spanish equivalent of our National Academy of Sciences. This honor for Professor Saxon is particularly significant since Spain has been a leader in topological vector space theory owing primarily to the work of Professor Valdivia and his more than 30 students. Professor Saxon has done noteworthy work in the area of topological vector spaces, and Professor Valdivia was one of the three members of the Spanish Academy who nominated Professor Saxon. Professor Saxon has been invited to Madrid to address the Royal Spanish Academy this year and also to publish a paper in the Academy's journal. |
