• October 30, 2002: Alexandre Turull presented this year's Second IFT Colloquium entitled Finite symmetry.
• November 6, 2002: The First Mathematics Department History Lecture was delivered by Robert Guralnick (University of Southern California) on Links between Riemann surfaces and group theory - history and recent developments.
• Monday, December 16, 2002: Mathematics Department Annual Christmas Party was held in the Keen Faculty Center (Dauer Hall).
