Math for Liberal Arts II

Prerequisites:

None.

Catalog Description:

A General Education course that demonstrates the beauty and utility of mathematics. Topics include financial management, linear and exponential growth, mathematics in the arts and discrete mathematics. This course does not require the student to have taken MGF 1106. (M) (MR)

Content:

MGF 1107 is a 3-credit general education course in mathematics. Topics include financial mathematics, modeling, music, fractals, discrete mathematics and more. Space is limited, so please pre-register.

This course is not intended to prepare you for precalculus or calculus. If you intend to take university-level calculus and feel you should brush up on your skills before taking it, consider either MAC 1147 (Precalculus), a 4-credit fast-paced review of algebra and trigonometry, or the two-course sequence MAC 1140 (Precalculus Algebra) -
MAC 1114 (Trigonometry).

Textbook:

Using and Understanding Mathematics by Bennett and Briggs.
