MAP 6217 Introduction to Calculus of Variations for Engineers and Physical Scientists

Prerequisites: MAP 5304, MAS 5157 or equivalent

Catalog Description:
Extremum problems, first variation. Euler equation problems with fixed and movable boundaries. Lagrange multiplier methods for problems with constraints, canonical form, second variation, applications to physics and engineering.
