MAE 3811 Prerequisite Information

The prerequisite for MAE 3811 is not currently in force, but may be reinstated at any time. To assist students and instructors in this eventuality, the prerequisite is described in detail below.

Prerequisite for MAE 3811: A passing grade on the MAE 3811 Prerequisite Exam in the semester prior to the one in which the course is to be taken (for these purposes, spring is considered the prior semester for summer A, summer B, and fall). This exam will be administered twice during the fall semester and twice during the spring semester. The two administrations will be a few days apart, generally before or around the start of Advance Registration. Students who fail the exam the first time it is administered will be informed so that they may take the exam the second time it is administered that semester. A student who takes the exam only the second time it is administered will have only that one opportunity to pass the exam; a failing grade will prevent the student from being allowed to register for next semester's course.

Passing grades on this exam will not carry over from one semester to another. If you pass the exam for next semester's MAE 3811, but do not take the course that semester, you will have to retake the exam before being allowed to take the course in a later semester. Since spring counts as the prior semester both for summer classes and fall classes, this means that to take MAE 3811 in summer or fall, you have to pass the exam in the spring; to take MAE 3811 in the spring, you have to pass the exam in the fall.

You are encouraged to practice with a sample test (and check the solution). Note that no calculators are allowed for this test.

Passing Scores on the MAE 3811 Prerequisite Exam:

Part 112/14
Part 28/10
Part 314/17
